Vacuum The Aquarium Once A Week
Get a gravel vacuum that can suck the waste out and also old food and the toxins. These vacuums are available in
different sizes and design options and the one you must select obviously depends on the size of your aquarium. Go
through the instructions because not all of them work in the same way. However the vacuums are all easy to use. If
you have a garden at home, you can water the plants with the dirty water that has been vacuumed out. Maintain a
clean aquarium and your fish will love it.
Change The Water Once A Week
It might be fine if you change the water twice in a month, but for best results, do this once a week. This is an
essential aquarium service. If you have a large aquarium, there is no need to replace the entire water – just
replace about 20% of the water you have. Put an end of the hose inside the tank and suck the water out. Once done,
you will have to put the water back. If you are changing the water completely, then you should of course collect
the fish and put them somewhere else like the bathtub first.
Remove The Algae Once Every Month
It will look really bad if there are algae on the glass sides of the aquarium. On the other hand, it will look
really good if the glass is clean and you can see the fish clearly. There are aquarium supplies such as the algae
scrapper that you can use to clean the algae.
Test The Water Every Month (At Least In The First 2 Months)
After you have just set up the tank, you will need to check the pH level of the water in your aquarium. This is
an important aquarium service that you must do for the first few days at least – preferably, at least twice each
week for the first 2 months. To check the level, you must get a kit from the Internet or from your local store.
After the initial 2 months are complete, you can test the water once every month. But if you find that the fish is
behaving abnormally, then you must test it immediately.
Change Your Filters
There are a lot of options in filters today and you can select one that suits your tank. But before you change
it, you must read the instructions to find out how often you must change the filter. Often the instructions will
tell you to change it once every month. However there are some superior models that can be changed after 6 months.
Even if you are changing the filter, at least clean it from time to time.
Aquarium service is a very important job and you should never ignore this. Maintain your aquarium properly and
